In 1996 Yamalo-Nenetsky Autonomous District transferred to the federal budget 2.4% of its total tax return, received from RF members. The results of the first four months of 1997 showed the increasing share of YaNAD in the tax return of Russia - now its share was 3.1%.

The share of Yamalo-Nenetsky Autonomous District in the total amount of RF revenue return on May 1, 1997, increased by 129% to the level of 1996 and YaNAD moved from 8th to 5th place in Russia.
